P6’s Titanic Cabins
This term we have been finding out about how the passengers on board Titanic were made up of all different parts of society and they had very different experiences depending on the ticket they could afford to buy. As a special homework, P6 pupils each made a cabin of their choice, using a shoebox and a variety of materials.
First-class accommodation were very luxurious, boasting a sitting room, private bathroom, toilet, two wardrobes, two large bedrooms and a private promenade.
Second-class accommodation consisted of cabins with bunk beds for either two or four passengers. There were no private bathrooms but there were wash basins in the cabins.
Third-class accommodation could be found at the noisy bottom part of the ship, close to the engines. These cabins slept up to ten passengers on bunk beds and had shared common bathrooms, with a total of two baths for all the third-class passengers.
