St Mary's Primary & Nursery School, Bellaghy, Magherafelt

Welcome

On behalf of the children, staff and governors of St Mary’s Primary School and Nursery Unit, I am delighted to welcome you to our school website.

St. Mary’s Catholic Primary School was established in 1964 and is situated in the middle of the town of Bellaghy. County Derry. Our Nursery Unit was opened in 2002, expanding our provision for the children of Bellaghy.

We believe that all children are life time learners. We know that children learn best when they feel happy, secure and well cared for. Therefore our first priority is the provision of strong pastoral care in a nurturing environment of catholic faith. We aim to develop in our children a passion and love of learning by providing an enriched, broad and balanced curriculum; that delivers a high quality, inclusive education for all, so that each may reach their full potential.

I sincerely hope that you will find our website to be an extremely useful resource, helping you to engage with your child’s educational journey through St Mary’s. Should you require any further information on admissions or would like to visit the school at any stage, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Mrs Mary McCann

Principal

Primary 4 Evacuee Day A huge congratulations to our Primary 4 class for their incredible Evacuee and World War II Showcase today! Your hard work, creativity, and enthusiasm truly shone through – we are so proud of you all. Thank you to all the parents and families who joined us and supported the event. Your presence made the afternoon even more special! Great job, Primary 4!
Primary 5 – Anti-Bullying Week & Kindness Week Primary 5 enjoyed taking part in Anti-Bullying Week and St Mary’s Kindness Week. We started by wearing odd socks on Monday to celebrate how everyone is unique. On Tuesday, we wore our workout clothes and played fun team games. We also created anti-bullying posters to share our messages of respect and kindness. Later in the week, we wrote kind comments for each person in our class and collected them in a special keepsake bag. We also filled in a hand template with our five trusted adults we can go to if we ever need help.It was a wonderful week of kindness, teamwork and positivity in Primary 5!
St Mary's Acts of Kindness Week This week St Mary's celebrated 'Kindness'. The parents and children of St Mary's showed their kindness by filling shoeboxes with treats and surprises to give to children around the world at Christmas. Beth from Samaritan's Purse collected the boxes today and they will be shipped off soon, to be delivered to children on Christmas Day. Thank you to everyone for being so kind!
