Primary 4- Weekly Learning Summary
16th Jan 2026
Primary 4 have had a fantastic first full week back since returning from the Christmas Holidays! The boys and girls settled in brilliantly and were eager to get started with our new learning.
We began our new topic, Weather Watchers, with a carousel planning session. The children worked together to come up with thoughtful questions about weather and explored a range of instruments used to measure it, including thermometers, windsocks and more. Their curiosity and enthusiasm shone through as they shared ideas and predictions about what we might learn this term.
In Literacy, we focused on past tense verbs, learning how to change verbs into the past tense by adding –ed. The class worked hard on identifying and using past?tense vocabulary correctly in sentences and short pieces of writing.
In Numeracy, Primary 4 have been learning all about time, using both analogue and digital clocks. They practised reading different times and explored how the two clock types link together. We have also been strengthening our problem?solving skills, using the strategy “Make a List or Table” to help break down challenges and work through them accurately and confidently.
During Mental Maths, we have been focusing on our three times table, and the class is making excellent progress. Their confidence is growing each day as they practise recall and apply their knowledge in different activities.
In Art, P4 were excited to explore our Artist of the Month – Manga/Anime. The children enjoyed examining this unique art style and created their very own anime characters, showing fantastic creativity and attention to detail.
And of course, throughout all this hard work, we made sure to include our brain breaks to keep our minds refreshed and ready for learning.
Overall, it has been a brilliant week of learning in Primary 4. Well done, boys and girls! ?
